Why are clothes coming out of dryer reeking of bad fish or chemical smell? Smell transfers to other clothes?

Clothes that come in contact with the smelly items (example hanging together in the closet) become contaminated too. Odors are fishy, old sea shell or strong chemical odor. Dryer repairman took dryer apart and found nothing wrong with dryer. Odor is not in washer and odor does not seem to be coming off clothes that have been re-washed and air dried without using the dryer.
